Common chronic pain disorder that affects the connective tissue that covers the muscle. Often the pain experienced by patient is a referred pain emanating from a different location. Symptoms include but not limited to muscle pain with specific painful or trigger points Symptoms are worse with stress, over straining certain muscle group, lack of activity. Often patients with myofascial pain syndrome also struggle with anxiety, depression, fatigue. Diagnosis is often made via pain stimulation of certain muscle groups that serve as trigger points. Treatment includes but not limited to physical therapy, massage therapy, trigger point injections.
